Did you know you can dye brown eggs? It's true. Why use boring white supermarket eggs when you can use farm-fresh brown eggs laid by happy hens? Using brown eggs yields colors that are deep, rich and jewel-toned.
Try this method for dying brown eggs using food coloring: Mix 1 Tbsp vinegar and 20 drops food coloring in 1 cup hot water in a glass cup or jar. Brown eggs will need to stay submerged longer than white eggs.
You might also want to try making your own natural dyes from foods like beets, turmeric, onion skins and red cabbage leaves. Check out this post from Organic Valley for instructions.
